Technical Service Engineer (Substation automation system and SCADA).

Mainduties:

I.              As Designer

•               Research –to work out whether newdevelopments and innovations would work and be cost-effective

•               Design – turning research ideasinto technical plans for prototypes using computer-aided design

•               testing – collecting andanalyzing data from tests on prototypes

•               modifying designs and re-testing–before a product is ready for manufacture or installation

•               Reporting – writing or presentingregular progress reports for project managers and clients.

II.             As maintenance engineer

•               planning and undertakingscheduled maintenance

•               responding to breakdowns

•               diagnosing faults

•               repairing equipment

•               supervising engineering andtechnical staff

•               obtaining specialist components,fixtures or fittings

•               Managing budgets

•               maintaining statistical andfinancial records

•               ensuring compliance with health andsafety legislation

•               creating maintenance procedures

•               Managing stocks of supplies andequipment

III.            As commissioning engineer

•               Identifying problems andshortcomings with existing systems.

•               Co-coordinating testing andcommissioning activities and providing advice on testing and commissioningprocedures and documentation.

•               Producing or assisting in theproduction of all tests and commissioning documentation.

•               Undertaking testing and commissioningactivities in line with the specified site requirements.

•               Monitoring progress, recordingall test results, witnessing final testing and acceptance of equipment andcompilation of all documentation for inclusion in the site test dossier.

•               Ensuring the safe testing andcommissioning of completed installations to achieve the necessary Planetperformance in accordance with project program requirements.

Instrumentation and Control Engineer

•Responsible to implement the corporate quality maintenance procedures forpreventive and corrective maintenance of Automation Control System inaccordance with the approved QP- Philosophy & Maintenance Strategy,  

·         Responsible for programming, troubleshooting and maintaining existingPLC especially S7, S88/Statement List Programming,  Remote Terminal Units (RTUs), SCADA systems,Bay Control Units (BCU), HMI's, Switches, Servers, etc. of Substation AutomationSystem (SAS)

·                      Identify technicalspecifications and purchase electrical/electronic equipment

•               Ensure the timely resolution of technicalissues, technical requests for information and the support for process controland application related problems

•               Provide commissioning andstart-up support to sustaining projects

·         Inspects tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic,mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate record, andcontrol generating operations in conventional or nuclear power electricgenerating Planet: Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormalfluctuations.

·         Tests accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperatureindicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recordings,indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in the system,using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers,potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curvetracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and wattmeters.

·         Traces out and tests electronic solid-state and vacuum tubecircuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital,protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics,and maintenance manuals.

·         Removes defective instruments from the system, decontaminates,disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using handtools.

·         Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in the system, usinghandtools.

·         Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.

·         Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards andadjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure the accuracy of the recording andindicating function.

·         Records calibrations made, parts and components used, andinventory of parts on hand.

·         Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflectchanges or alterations made in instruments, circuits, and systems.

·         May be designated according to type power Planet as Nuclear-Planet-InstrumentTechnician; Instrument Repairer, Steam Planet.

•               Apply continuous improvementtechniques to improve/optimize control systems reliability and performance

•               Develop, manage and sustaincontrol system performance related to Key Performance Indicators (KPI's)

•               Responsible for applying Suncorand industry standards such as IEEE, IEC, CSA, etc. in the execution of work

•               Support Incident Learning andPrevention (ILP) and Management Of Change processes

•               Develop and or support automationbest practices/standards/guidelines

•               Commissioning & setting ABBprotection relays.

•               Design, Preparation andModification of Protection Systems and Control Systems.

·          Install and commissionfirefighting system alarms

·          Install and commission CCTVsystems.
