Present Designation: Design Engineer
I am working as a structural design engineer for the Mumbai Coastal Road Project. This project consists of Twin tunnels of diameter 12metres each (Biggest in India). My job here is to review the design, construction reference drawings and methodologies for the elements like, cut and cover boxes, utility boxes, cantilever promenade, ramps, retaining wall, cross passages etc. To make sure the design and the drawings are in line with the contracts and with the codes mentioned in the different volumes of contract.
My job is also to visit the site on a regular basis and check if the execution is taking place according to what has been submitted and approved. Furthermore, I write contractual letters, Non conformance reports, if something looks contrary to what has been approved. I also attend meetings with Contactor, General Consultant and Client.
Previous Job: Structural Detailer (1 Year and 5 months)
In my previous job i had worked as a structural detailer. I was involved in both 2D & 3D RCC detailing. This is where i have been introduced to BS codes, as most of our clients were from Britain. I have also designed residential load bearing structures for our clients from the UK. My previous job also gave me an opportunity to design a jetty.
working here, i got more familiar with IS codes, Indian Road Congress (IRC codes) and British codes of design and detailing.
